Position Summary:
Holy Infant Catholic Church of Durham, NC is seeking a Communications Coordinator to help foster the vision and mission of the parish. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Director of Operations and Finance and assist with the development and implementation of the parish’s communication programs through a variety of media channels. The position involves the conceptualization of effective communications strategies along with skillful content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing clearly and concisely, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and appropriate tone for the message or audience; speaks in a clear, articulate manner; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility including but not limited to print, electronic and LCD monitor messages;
- Understanding and promoting all program and membership offerings.
- Lead efforts to gather stories of impact to share with parishioners across multiple mediums.
- Developing and executing communications plans for parish events and initiatives.
- Create videos for publicity, summary, and recap.
- Managing and maintaining the parish website;
- Enhance SEO for website landing pages.
- Maintain and update printed marketing and communications materials & member communication templates.
- Analyze digital metrics to determine success of communication efforts.
- Creating, planning, and scheduling dynamic social media campaigns in collaboration with the pastor, parish staff, and where appropriate, ministry leaders.
- Execute end-end email campaigns using Constant Contact or similar.
- Engage with current and prospective parishioners on social media.
- Manage all digital marketing efforts including photography and video production for use in print and digital marketing materials including special events, program activities, etc.
- Designing flyers, signage, and other print and digital publications.
- Coordinate, format, and edit weekly bulletin, electronic messages and LCD monitor messages.
- Responsible for parish branding and style guide adherence.
- Design, write/edit- weekly print bulletin.
- Design, write/edit- weekly electronic communication.
- Design, write/edit- weekly LCD monitor messages.
- Design, write/edit- periodic print and digital publications (brochures, worship aids, banners, event signage, etc.).
- Maintain a relevant, up-to-date, intuitive and content rich website.
- Oversee the use of streaming services for Masses, Funerals, etc.
- Manage parish social media strategy, protocols, and content.
- Manage office phone system and Go-To Connect.
- Develop analytical reporting to measure the efficacy of communication channels (e.g. Google Analytics, etc.).
- Network, recruit and manage a team of volunteers to assist with writing, photography and design.
- Interface with staff and ministry leaders to ensure coverage of critical current and planned activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Awareness of current and emerging social media platforms and how to effectively connect with them.
- Ability to create graphics and images and customize purchased graphics and images.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software (e.g. InDesign, Quark) and Microsoft Office Suite including Publisher.
- Website management and editing skills.
- Knowledge of emailing systems (e.g. Constant Contact, etc.).
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to observe, question, listen, give and accept feedback and deal with changes.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently by successfully prioritizing tasks in a multi-task work environment.
- Able to recognize and maintain strict discretion of confidential information.
- High attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communications skills and a commitment to open sharing of information with all need-to-know parties.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
