Centro para Familias Hispanas was honored to welcome Bishop Rafael Zarama for the final class of The Language is the Key program, which teaches parents how to read to their children.
The Language is Key is designed to improve the language and reading ability of preschool children. The program does this through also teaching parents effective strategies that promote language development and help children learn to love reading.
The bishop was warmly welcomed by the young students and their parents and spent the morning reading books to the students. He then participated in the end of the class celebration joining class instructor Laura Tirado in presenting a graduation certificate to each child, who also got a picture with the bishop.
Bishop Zarama congratulated the parents for their efforts and desires to read to their young children. He stressed that the work of educating their children is a primary responsibility of parents. “The blessing that you all have is to be able to spend time with your children,” said Bishop Zarama. “They will value it later.”
