Dear Cardinal Gibbons Community,
I am writing to inform you that 2018-2019 will be my last school year at Cardinal Gibbons. It has been a tremendous blessing to serve in this school community over the past 19 years, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have been formed, inspired and encouraged by such a vibrant, passionate, and faith-filled school community. I have accepted the position of President at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, CA, and this summer we will be returning to Silicon Valley, where Kelly and I attended college, were married, and started our family.
Cardinal Gibbons is blessed with exceptional educators, an experienced and dedicated administrative team, and a talented Board of Trustees with diverse skills and experiences leading our school community. We are also fortunate to have a parent community truly devoted to our school’s mission and culture, and a growing alumni network committed to both our legacy and future. Mrs. Barkan, Mr. Curatolo and Mr. Rogosich are well-positioned to lead our school through this transition, and they are surrounded by a staff of educators who have exciting plans for the coming years at Cardinal Gibbons. I know they will be grateful for your support during this time and for your continued enthusiastic commitment to excellent Catholic education at Cardinal Gibbons.
I am confident that the school will emerge from this transition stronger than ever and am excited about all that lies ahead for our students and families. It has been a privilege to work with Bishop Gossman, Bishop Burbidge, and Bishop Zarama; Dr. Fedewa and the Catholic Schools Office; and the many supporters and the benefactors of our school over these years in ensuring a bright future for Cardinal Gibbons. We know that the Diocese of Raleigh and our Board of Trustees are prepared to support and lead our school in a smooth and successful leadership transition for Cardinal Gibbons.
My family has been welcomed, encouraged, and embraced by this school community from the moment we stepped on campus in 2000, and we will be forever grateful for the impact you have had on us. While there is much sadness in leaving a place we love so much, we also know that to have experienced overwhelming love and support from such a remarkable school community is a blessing that very few families are privileged to experience. With two graduates (Jake ‘16 and Emily ‘18), Cardinal Gibbons will continue to be an important part of our family’s lives, and we look forward to celebrating the many future successes of this outstanding school in the coming years. Please know that you will remain in our hearts, and that I am deeply appreciative of your support, especially for Kelly and our children.
I very much look forward to finishing this school year in celebration with the Class of 2019, supporting my colleagues and our school leaders, and taking every opportunity to thank all of you personally for the great blessing you have been to my family and me. Please keep our school community in your prayers and be assured of my continued prayers for all of you.
In gratitude and love,
Jason D. Curtis
