John Garvey, president of The Catholic University of America, recently wrote to Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama, expressing gratitude for the Diocese of Raleigh’s investment in the bishops' university through the Catholic University national collection. Earlier this year, parishioners from the Diocese of Raleigh donated more than $60,000 to CUA through the annual second collection in support of the university.
In the letter, Garvey stated, “Catholic University does not belong only to those who work, teach, and study here. It belongs to you and your faithful, and to all Catholics in our country. Staying true to our founding vision, we seek to contribute to society her best citizens by continuing to expand our long-standing efforts to prepare coming generations, spearhead exploration, discovery, and invention, and lead inquiries into the most pressing theological, philosophical, and moral issues of our time.”
Theological College, the National Seminary of The Catholic University, is one of the five seminaries in the U.S. entrusted in the formation of Diocese of Raleigh seminarians.
