Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama helped to dedicate a new church building Oct. 13 at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Mission in Raleigh. The church, which is located on Mt. Vernon Church Road, is part of the Maronite Church.
According to its website, the Maronite Church is an Eastern Catholic Church which is in union with the Holy Father in Rome. The Maronite Church in the United States is divided into two eparchies (dioceses), the Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn (the eastern U.S.) and the Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles (western).
