In thanksgiving for recently joining with them to dedicate their new church and as a symbol of a longstanding bond, local Maronite Catholics presented Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama with a cedar tree to plant at the Diocese of Raleigh Catholic Center.
Pastor Robert Youseef Farah and several parishioners of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Mission in Raleigh presented the four-year old tree which was delivered from Trees of JoyⓇ, a specialty grower based in Bethlehem, Penn.
Lebanon cedars are frequently referenced in the bible. They are known for their slow, steady growth and for living thousands of years.
“It is symbolic of the strong bond and longstanding partnership of the eastern and western Catholic Church,” said Father Farah.
