Director of Religious Education

Position Summary:

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Director of Religious Education. The Director of Religious Education will provide overall pastoral, managerial and organizational leadership in the implementation and administration of Faith Formation processes/programs for children and adults for families to become not only in touch, but also in communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ through the sacraments.

Key responsibilities:

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates a total Parish Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation program and provides leadership to assist the parish community in building a solid foundation for spirituality, Christian living, ministry and outreach.
• Stays current on training and development through continuing education to keep the Religious Education programs up to date, relevant and inviting.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Arts in sociology, psychology, religious education of related field (preferred but not limited to).
• Five or more years’ experience in coordination of religious education programs.
• Ten or more years teaching experience in relevant religious education programs.
• Successful completion of a recognized catechist/youth ministry certification.
• Successful completion of, or working toward, a recognized master catechist certification.
• Employment is contingent upon applicants satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete the diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Supervises: Youth Ministry Coordinator, Catechists, Catechist Aides, and Volunteers
