Immaculata Catholic School in Durham has once again been recognized as a recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award. This year’s is the second National Blue Ribbon Schools (NBRS) Award the school has received; ICS also earned Blue Ribbon recognition in 2012.
This prestigious accolade acknowledges the dedication of the school’s students, educators, families and communities in fostering safe and inclusive learning environments where students excel in mastering challenging and captivating content.
“Immaculata is proud of this national recognition and we remain committed to sustaining a commitment to delivering high-quality, faith-based education for years to come,” said Principal Pat Kurz. “Go Eagles!”
U.S. Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona announced the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools earlier this week. This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups. ICS was one of only 356 schools nationwide to receive this recognition.
“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at these schools,” said Cardona. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.”
