St. Egbert Catholic School hosts Day of Remembrance prayer service

Esteemed members of the Morehead City Fire Department and the Morehead City Police Department recently joined students, their family members, faculty, and staff of St. Egbert Catholic School to commemorate National Day of Remembrance with a prayer service at St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, NC.

The event was led by Principal Denise Leuci and staff and included the Pledge of Allegiance, a Bible reading from Philippians, reflections, prayer petitions and closed with a verse from "America the Beautiful." All in attendance were encouraged to pray for the victims, those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001, and the men and women who sacrificed their lives by serving and defending our country during and after the tragic attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Principal Leuci then took the opportunity to recognize representatives of our local heroes in the police and fire departments who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep Morehead City safe.

Upon exiting the prayer service, Kelly Caufield, a St. Egbert Catholic School employee and survivor of the 9-11 devastation in New York City, commented, "God bless America, we will never forget."
