Cathedral parish center receives visitors, blessings

RALEIGH -- With the exterior progress of the new parish center readily apparent to those visiting Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, parishioners recently had the opportunity for a unique look inside. On Sunday, July 23, Monsignor David Brockman, pastor, invited parishioners for, “A sneak peek – a little antipasto for our enjoyment before it is dedicated and lifted up for its use in the service of the Lord.”

Following Mass, Monsignor Brockman led a procession to the center and invited everyone to tour the building and also inscribe a prayer or thoughtful message on the bare floors.

“Though it will be covered up by wood in the gym, or carpet in the meeting center or under the durable finish in the lobby,” Monsignor Brockman expained, “you will know it’s there. And most importantly the Lord will know it’s there.”

Young and old alike took the opportunity to offer written prayers, blessings and well wishes that will be encased and preserved within the parish center as it nears completion. As parishioners left the soon-to-be-completed building, the parish’s Living Faith Committee provided refreshments.

Construction continues at a rapid pace as the structure is in place and electrical, plumbing, sheetrock and technology are now being installed for the new center, which should be completed before year’s end.
